**NEW*** Pedal Steel guitar application very close to Release!
Hello Steelers from the forum,
I am very exited to tell all great people in this amazing forum that the app I announced a couple of months ago, I changed it's name to PSG Compass, and is almost ready for release you can create your own copedent, with up to 20 strings and 15 pedals, 2 sets of knee levers and custom mechanisms, like double foot action, half press pedals and palm levers, with full integration of splits and your own combinations of mechanisms, so you can completely do an overkill of ANY implementation for your setup, after that you have 4 modes to work with:
Chord Finder: look for virtually ANY chord possible in your PS,, more than 250 chord types to choose from, from triads, 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, 13ths, altered, quartal, add, suspended and all variations, #11, #9, b9, even some obscure ones like sus#4, sus b2, and many combinations, you can hear the chords played by the app, ore hear every note in every string individually, with the ability to filter out intervals you don't want (maybe you do not need the root or the 5th, because your bass player is playing it), and keep the essence of the chord with the intervals you want, save your favorite voicings applicable to any key, so you can recall them any time and also use them in other modes. As well as PDF export in full Tab or in Diagram format so you can later use them and review them in your practice session or lessons.
Scale Finder: Same as Chord Finder but for Scales, visualize more than 50 different scales in the full fretboard, all Major, Harmonic, Melodic, Hungarian, Bulgarian and symmetric and their modes, plus some Asian and exotic scales, color coded intervals for easy view and mapping of notes and full integration with chord finder, where you can first find a Chord you like and then the app will show ALL the scales that contain that chord, so you can work on your Chord/Scale relationships studies, great to absorb chunks of chord/scale theory in relation to what ever voicings you are working on, with full support of your copedent, you can see how engaging pedals/levers change the positions of the scales in the fretboard, export scale diagrams to PDF and explore and improve your fretboard knowledge visually and sonically since the app will show you how every scale sounds.
Chord Decipher: Have you ever while exploring your instrument found a sound or a chord you like but don't know it's name? or you want to explore chord theory and work on chord relationships in harmony, like C6 = Am7 = Fmaj9 (no Root), or Dm7b5 = Fm6 etc?, this mode is for you, you input the fret, the strings, and the pedals/levers you are engaging, and the app will tell you all the possible chords that that set of notes create, with advanced algorithms that will analyze each note, and compare it to any root to show you all the possible names for any set of note combination, so that way you can then put a name to that sound that your intuition told you sounds amazing, no need to do any harmony math and melt your brain checking every note relationship, the app will do that for you. I am very proud of this mode, I am sure it can help tons to learn chord theory in a more intuitive and joyful way.
Voice Leader: in this mode you can create full chord arrangements, you input the chords in measure slots, the app can create the full arrangement for with simple parameters, like what fret to start, fret range, arrangement chord fret jump and arrangement direction, it will make a good start for you and then you can edit and choose the voicing you like for every chord, turning on/off any string, so you can create a full arrangement of chord transitions and melodies, as simple or as complicated as you wish, save your chord progressions of your full voicing arrangements, and then hear them in full played by the app. This mode is a great tool to start creating PSG arrangements even if you are not in front of your instrument and export it in full Tab to PDF file to later sit down at your PSG and play it or work out your chord changes of your arrangement. By default it contains many chord progression to Jazz Standards, Pop Chord Progressions, Bossa and Latin, as well as chord practice progressions like
ii-V7-I in a Cycle of 4ths and so on. So already a good library of progressions to get you started in your harmony journey
The app will be available for Mac and Windows, and later, depending on the response of users I plan to make an iPad and Android Tablet versions.
Here I leave screenshots, if anyone is interested in testing it out before the release let me know I am open to show it's full function to anyone interested.
Cheers to all.

Thank you for your interest, yes of course I will announce it in the forum, I am in the process of finding the best way to distribute it, and avoid piracy, but it is proving to not be as easy as I thought, distributors like applestore wanting to take a BIG chunk of earnings, I do not want to have to up the price so much because of that, and also making it difficult for me as a independent developer and being from Mexico, they question if my app is a mexican cartel money laundering method or something lol, but I will find a way, I hope to release it in less than a month and will let you know!Doug Taylor wrote: 24 Sep 2025 6:06 am That looks like a really good resource. Hey Rodrigo,
That price seems like a good deal. I will be interested in buying it as soon as it is available.
Yes. Selling things on-line can be costly because of the fees and commissions. The attitude is that "It is our platform and we can do what we like."
I wish you the best of luck and lots of sales!

Interesting technology progress at work. I look forward to seeing the final product. There always new ways to create music, communication, medical treatments, etc... I think the technology is a good thing.
