Larry Toliver: Steel Guitar classes: Restarted...see this post for more info

Post by Larry Toliver »

Hello fellow steelers,
This is Larry Toliver once again. I've taken a break for 3 or 4 years or so, but I've had several requests to restart the steel guitar schools that I used to do. I'll probably have one in September and maybe one in October. They will be 2 days...Friday/Saturday for now. I will teach beginner to intermediate classes starting 830 or so Friday morning going to 5pm. We will take a lunch break and I will provide lunch. Then back at it til 5pm. I usually do an hour or so that evening of jam/concert to go over all we taught/learned that day.
Then day 2 (Saturday) we'll begin about 830 again and review a bit from the day before. Then we will teach some more new material til noon, have lunch, then go til about 330 or 4pm. Usually by then, everyone is saturated, and this will allow those driving to get home that evening, and if flying....possibly get home that evening.

We will cover basics of the E9th, picking techniques, blocking techniques, proper bar use, intros, endings, leads on some popular songs, how to count and come in correctly, harmonics (chimes), etc, I have taught classes at the Texas Steel Show, and The Phoenix or SouthWestern Show for at least 10 years. We will teach the Nashville Number system, chords..major, minor, diminished, augmented, major 7th, minor 7th, how to play at least something over a song you have been asked to play. I will have several songs tabbed out in a booklet, with a cd, all kinds of exercises...and more. The price for the 2 day classes are $300 bucks which includes a generous sized booklet, personal attention, all your questions answered, and lunch is provided. (Breakfast and Dinner will be up to you)

For questions...you can reply to this post, call me (text 1st and mention the Steel Class) at 325 518-3947 cell. You can email me at tliver1956@gmail.com. I've had as many as 18 students at one class, but I'm holding this class to 10 students. This will allow me to help everyone personally over 2 days.
You are welcome and encouraged to video any/all of the class.
I live near Abilene, Texas which does have an airport. We are about 3 hours from Dallas and 2.5 hours from Lubbock. My small town I live in is Merkel, Texas.

If I left something out...let me know!

I look forward to hearing from you! Keep on Steelin'

Hey Jim and Lee,
I appreciate the nice comments! Y'all are very kind.
Lee, I hope to have the next class probably in late September or Mid October. Our anniversary is October 24th, so I can't miss that. Let me know if that will work for ya'll! I can be ready by the 10th & 11th, or the 17th & 18th. Let me know if you have a preference

I look forward to seeing Ya'll!
