Review The Magnistop Half stop Feel

Post by Paul E Vendemmia »

Review of the Magnistop Half Stop
I'm reviewing Both of the Magnistop Half Stop feel tuners. As a builder and repair man for many many years. I've worked on many of the spring type 1/2 stop tuner and most work OK, But some people still have trouble getting the feel of the 1/2 stop. And that's because of the spring operating feel of the half stop you never realy feel where to stop your always a few cents off one way or another. You get Close at best. But Now there is a better half stop feel by Magnstop it's a mechanical feel instead. So you feel a stop then a click. And it's amazing ! and it really works. And is much better at tuning. This is the design of Hans Holzherr. I think he's a genius. This product was so well thought out. The machining work is 2nd to none I was blowed away when I open the box. The Instuction sheet is so well written with pictures that anyone should be able to install one. And it comes with all the parts you need for any guitar. Hans sent me one for my all pull and one for my push pull and both work great. well wroth the money. The push pull one is not in production yet but should be soon. Please check out the web Site https://magnistop.laughingpick.com

Thanks Hans Hozherr

I have one as well and it is great! No holes required in the cabinet- installation is a breeze and is solid and accurate! The concept, design, and machining is terrific! Well worth the money. Thanks Hans!!!

Thanks, guys, for the kind words! Much appreciated! Regarding the PP version, so far, only 4 people are interested in it.

I’m hoping some more push pull owners will register their interest! Would love to see this produced.

Got mine last Thursday (on prompt delivery from Germany) just in time to install it in my Super Pro before going on vacation fro a few days. Installation was easy (and would have been even easier if I had followed the directions carefully  ). I only had time to confirm that it functioned properly before traveling. Really got to work with it today, and it's great. Felt a little too stiff for me at first, but I followed the instructions to soften the feel and now it's just right.

I didn't feel like I'd need one on my other Super Pro, but I might want one now.

Great work, Hans!

I just received and installed one. Super easy to install, and the product is fantastic. Works like a charm. I softened the stop a bit from the default mode. It’s particular nice to be able to hit the half stop on the way back from the full lower (i.e. going from C# to D). Big confidence booster for me using the 2nd string to work my way up and down the neck. Already thinking about whether I would benefit from another one (to half pedal the A?). Would definitely recommend to anyone.

David

Nice review. Thinking of one but the noise level sounds rather high to me. Your thoughts?

PS.. Also using a Kemper. Maybe we could swap some rigs? Have got a very close clone to the Sarno Octal Revelation

There's an audible click when it engages, but it got a lot quieter once i put the provided tape on the mechanism to soften the half stop. It doesn't bother me.

Not audible when playing through an amplifier. After several gigs I have completely forgotten it's there when I push through to the full-tone drop. But, boy!, am I aware and grateful it's there when I go to the half-tone stop!
