RIP Ralph Towner

Post by Bill McCloskey »

During the 70's and 80's I was obsessed with the band Oregon and Ralph Towner, their guitarists. In fact the whole world that sprang up around the Paul Winter Consort and the ECM label were always on my turntable.

Guess I'll pull my old Oregon records out today and give honor to one of our greatest musicians who forged a truely unique path.

Agreed. After a youth of bluegrass my first college roommate had Oregon albums that were truly eye-opening (along with Tom Waits's Nighthawks at the Diner). Great player, great tone and command of the instrument.
