I have taken the liberty of reformatting Mr. Haugh's chart from this page for (maybe) easier reading.

Italics and question marks are mine -- I copied these exactly but I do not know what they mean.
I guarantee that I have no information about any of this. Do not direct any questions to me.

Super Pro SD-10 Serial # 0100
I'm trying to get this steel back in playing shape for someone and would like to know the model and age. I need a few parts that connect the knee levers to the cross rods. Like the set screw and whatever holds the reverse lever parts together etc.

Thanks, Jon! I was able to find out when my Maverick was made! My cousin gave it to me over 30 years ago, and all along I thought it was built in 1972, but it turns out it was actually made in April of 1971! Serial # 1070

Re: Sho-Bud Serial Numbers
Hi everyone. I have an old Sho-Bud Baldwin Crossover that I need some assistance dating. The serial number underneath is stamped MC7048. I cannot seem to find any information on this. Any chance Gene is still around and taking money for information?

Re: Sho-Bud Serial Numbers
Serial numbers 7001 to 8109 were used for the Baldwin era guitars from late '66-ish to early '71. In Gene's serial number list it says those numbers were "lost", but they were just from a prior ownership/management era that Gene didn't have access to when he came aboard there in the early '80s. It's been mentioned in this thread several times, Sho-Bud skipped over those numbers in the mid '70s because they had already been used. 7048 is early in the sequence so it is likely from ~'67. On the early Crossovers, the racks were ganged together in groups of 3 or 4. The pics you posted don't show this detail, but yours is likely one of these. The later versions of the Crossover had individual racks, the same as the next generation Professional series in the early '70s. Some of the earliest "Professional" models from '70-'71 had serial #s in the low 8xxx range too, before they reset their numbering system to 1001 in early '71.

Re: Sho-Bud Serial Numbers
I just picked up this blonde 6139 rack and barrel. According to this thread, it would be around late February ‘74.
If any former owners are out there, I’d love to know its history. It’s been well-loved.
Thanks to yall for composing this list!

Re: Sho-Bud Serial Numbers
About 2/19-20/74 since 5074 was built on 2/18/74 which was also a 6140.
Just to verify, does it have 6 pedals and 1 knee?
I try to enter all new entries with as much info as possible.
Also, who did you purchase it from and were they the original owner(if you know)?

Re: Sho-Bud Serial Numbers
Now that you've posted some additional pics, that guitar is actually a 6139.
The 6139 is an E9th model and the 6140 is a C6th model which would have 6 pedals centered in the pedal bar and usually just 1 knee lever.
I'll update my database.
That's a really clean find!
We'll see if Ricky Davis has anything more to say about this one.

Re: Sho-Bud Serial Numbers
Thanks Michael!
This one was set up and offered at the new Emmons factory. I was told that the original parts used for the knees were added in Nashville.
After seeing the rack and barrel system up close, I’m impressed with how many different setups are available. It would be fun to add two more pedals someday!

Re: Sho-Bud Serial Numbers
"It's been modified" is an understatement. Looks like it was built during the lost serial number timeframe. Looks like 1972-1973 era.

Re: Sho-Bud Serial Numbers
That's a very early Professional from the late Baldwin era, built mid to late 1970. There is some discussion about other similar guitars within the past couple of pages in this thread. The 7xxx serial numbers up through ~8109 were used during the Baldwin era. They reset the numbering to 1001 in early '71 and added a "The Professional" decal. The wood inlays are different on the early guitars like yours, most with the wider spaced diamond inlay. The later round-front guitars '71-'75 had the classic rope inlay (most anyway, with Sho-Bud anything is possible!). The two hacked vertical levers are pretty rough and sloppy (the rubber bands are a nice touch!). It's most likely the C6 knee levers are not original either, but they seem to be mostly correct Bud parts.Jeremy JT Young wrote: 21 Sep 2025 12:12 amI bought this a little while back. Just looking for a build date and what model it is. I know its been modified and The previous owner added to it. Any info is appreciated.

Re: Sho-Bud Serial Numbers
Yeah the rubber Bands im guessing we're to hold the levers up from falling during pics. They were not in there when I received it. But thanks for the info. Maybe I can find some pictures of the way it should be and put it back.
